To print the envelope, insert an envelope in the printer as shown in the Feed box on the Printing Options tab in the Envelope Options dialog box, click Add to. Under 2020 I had an envelope template set up to contain my return address. Return Address on Envelope I have just switched. Microsoft Word MVP.

Hey all, SO, I am not a novice user by any means, and upgrade with each new Professional Office version. Since I upgraded to 2016, my envelopes will no longer print properly.
When I feed them through, I get the address at the top of the envelope and the return address is cut off. If i print to a regular size piece of paper, it prints all the way to the left of the sheet. I have tried changing the alignment and changing back, manually designing a custom envelope size, I have uninstalled my printer and reinstalled, I have uninstalled office and reinstalled.

Nothing is working. It's almost like there is a glitch that won't line the envelope up properly. It was working a few weeks ago the last one I printed before I upgraded. My temporary workaround is to go to my desktop and print from there as that still has word 2013. But that is not my main computer and is a real pain in the **** to do. Has anyone else had this issue and found a fix? Microsoft only tells me that as I was able to install it, I can pay them $99.00 USD (As I am Canadian, this currently converts into approx $140) to fix the issue that they caused, after I paid for the software.
That is just as bad as the computer hijackers they have these days. I'll hijack your computer and make you pay to get it back. I like where your mind is going, unfortunately, mine already went there. I have a smart printer and have to adjust the feed guides to ensure it feeds straight. When I do as you suggested, my printer recognizes that I am feeding an envelope in the centre and overrides it to centre feed, which prints the to address at the top or the envelope, leaving out the return address. When I tried and kept the feed guides the same size as a full sheet of paper, it recognizes that the envelope is in the wrong spot and changes it to a right feed setting.
The ONLY way I can get it printing properly in any position is to tape the envelope to a sheet of paper on the far left and set the feed alignment to centre. However, this is not a solution, is very time consuming and wrecks my envelopes and wastes tape. That does not rule out the printers from being the cause of the problem. What 'other printers' are you talking about? Are you saying that all of the printers are so smart that you cannot fool them by adjusting the Envelope>Options>Print Options settings.
I have a 7 year old Samsung Printer that prints envelopes without problem from Word 2016 running under Windows 10 or from Word 2016 on another computer running under Windows 7. For the HP printer you should raise the issue at: For the Brothers: Hope this helps, Doug Robbins - Word MVP [email protected] I AM NOT CONCERNED ABOUT MY EMAIL ADDRESS BEING VISIBLE!!!! Yes, that is exactly what I am saying. I am not a novice user and am very technical and used to troubleshooting before reaching out for help. My computer guy does this for a living. All of my printers are within 2 years old. When I tape an envelope on ALL 3 of them on the right, and choose the centre setting, they all print properly on the envelope.
When I feed the envelope by itself, the sensors in the printers recognize the size of the envelope and that it is feeding in the wrong spot. 2 weeks ago before I installed Office 2016 - everything printed fine. This is my first attempt at printing an envelope since the upgrade and this is when the issues started. Having multiple printers and multiple computers allows for a lot of troubleshooting. Now this evening, I have completely uninstalled office 2016 and completed a full reinstall of office 2013. Prints perfectly.
When I reinstall Office 2016. Obviously a Microsoft glitch.
Maybe your computers are on a different Windows OS or have a different version of Office 2016 than I. I thank you for you time in trying to assist me.
Back to trying to figure out how to fix Office 2016 as I have a specific program I just purchased that is compatible with 2016, so this needs to get working correctly.
